Being Well at Magill

Hello to our Magillian families.

It is safe to say, Term 2 has been fairly busy. Everyday learning aside, there has also been Junior Primary swimming, Bike ED, Reconciliation, SAPSASA sporting events, a Math's incursion, Uni SA Sports Lab, Quiz night, Pyjama day fundraiser and NAIDOC Week.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia during this time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories, and participate in celebrations of the oldest continuous living cultures on earth. This year, the theme is ‘For Our Elders’.

Our Junior Primary students have been studying utensil design using natural resources. They have learned how First Nation people used items collected from nature to make tools and utensils necessary for gathering, carrying and storing food and other objects.

Throughout the term, it was a common occurrence to see our students foraging around Magill school grounds, looking for natural resources to bring their own designs to life. Judging by the many smiling faces, it was clear that this activity was highly engaging.

Now, as we head into the school holidays, it is certain everyone will appreciate a well-earned rest. Stay safe and take the opportunity to re-charge, ready for Term 3.
