Leadership Report

Dear Families,

As Term 2 comes to an end, 12 Junior Primary classes are now settled into their new classes. The behind the scenes work to get to this stage has been a big team effort. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Admin Office Team for the meticulous planning, arrangements and facilitation of the move. Additionally, thank you to the teachers and staff who dedicated their time over the weekend to prepare the learning spaces, ensuring they are welcoming and inviting for children.

For a glimpse of the excitement that filled the air as our students were introduced to their new classrooms, make sure to tune into the latest episode of Inside Magill. The episode vividly captures the expressions on the children’s faces and their initial impressions of their new learning environments.

We will look forward to inviting parents to explore the new spaces early next term. Thank you for your patience as we have worked to establish the best way to navigate the areas safely at the beginning and end of the school day.

The Instrumental Music classrooms have also been moved into the existing Penfold building.  The Junior Primary Performing Arts and Science rooms are also now located in Penfold.

Please note that the transportable buildings are now ready for removal. Consequently, the site will be closed over the weekend for the safe removal of asbestos.

Staffing Changes for Term 3

Next term, we have several staff changes. Deana Agalidis will become the Year 6 F1 class teacher, replacing Emma Marks who will be taking maternity leave. We welcome Andy Read who will take on the role of Primary PE teacher.

We welcome back Emily Nordestgaard who returns to Magill School as the Year 3 teacher in M2. She will be sharing the role with Deb Johnston, who will continue teaching on Thursdays and Fridays. Mel Workman will still be working for the first few weeks of next term, taking on a range of roles, before commencing her maternity leave.

Phillipa Callaghan will become the full time teacher with the Year 4s in F11 for the first 6 weeks of Term 3 while Deb Knott enjoys her long service leave.

Alan Meldrum will be teaching the Year 6s in F3 for 4 weeks while James Hancock enjoys his long service leave.

In other adjustments, Schona Murray will be increasing her time in N2 with the Year 2s to 2 days, while Amelia Talbot will be reducing her days to three.

Pupil Free Day First Day Back

Please remember that the first day back to school after the holidays will be Tuesday 25th July, as Monday will be a Student-Free Day. Staff will be involved in professional development focused on reviewing our literacy agreements and practices. We will look forward to sharing more about this day in future newsletters.

Make sure you catch up on the Term 2 school highlights by watching Inside Magill.

Happy holidays,

Daniela Lawlor
