2019 School Organisation
Planning for 2019 is well underway. We will have an enrolment of over 400 students in 2019. We will have seventeen classes which is the same as this year. Our structure will be as follows:
- Prep x 3 classes
- Grade 1/2 x 5 classes
- Grade 3/4 x 4 classes
- Grade 5/6 x 5 classes
The teachers of these grades have not been determined at this stage and we will communicate this information to you later in the year. Where these classes will be located within the school is to be determined and we will let you know once we have finalised this.
Teachers will begin organising student placements for these grades in the coming weeks. As I'm sure you can appreciate, this is an important and time consuming task. Staff, as professional educators, are capable and trusted to make decisions in the best interests of our students and school.
We consider, discuss and draft class lists and take into account many variables including:
- Student academic and social needs
- A reasonable gender and academic balance in classes
- The working relationships of students
- The common good of our school.
In formulating lists we endeavour to ensure that each child has at least one friend in class. The staff will begin this student placement undertaking shortly.
If parents wish to make a request, please ensure it is well consideredand placed in writing to me before the close of business on Friday the 2nd of November. If you have made a request previously you will need to write this again as circumstances may have changed for your child. As you will understand 'parent requests' will be considered but not guaranteed. Thank you for your support of our process.
School Closure Day
As you are aware the school will not be open on FRIDAY 26 OCTOBER. The staff will be working off site with our focus on Family Engagement in Education. Sue Brown will facilitate the day. Sue works within schools as a Family Engagement Officer. Our Prep parents met her on our Community Conversation day back in march!
Fete helpers will be preparing the grounds for SATURDAY 27 OCTOBER Fete. Please note Fete helpers are responsible and in charge of their own children.
Further Closure Days this term are:
- Monday 5th November (Cup Eve)
- Monday 10th December
Car Parking
- As we begin the term, it is imperative that for community safety, everyone is patient and watchful at drop -off and pick up times!
- Please ensure that in St John's Way you do not block neighbours' driveways for entry and exit. Please obey all signs and speed restrictions. Do not park in no standing zones nor reverse from Bevis Street into Studley Street .
- Please ensure that if you park in the Parish Car Park you get out of your car and collect your children and walk them safely to your car.
