Foundation Unit

Busy Bees in Foundation!

There was a buzz in the air as Foundation students returned from the weekend, high on the Carlsruhe Fair vibe! There was lots of talk about games! Rides! Animals! Food!!!! The students wrote about the many experiences they had and what a wonderful event it was. They were excited to see their friends and play with them in such a magical environment. Many felt they didn’t want to wait a whole two years for another one – although we did discuss how much work, time and planning went into hosting such a spectacular day!

  • I liked going on the big jumping castle because Jessie went on it with me and I got to  get popcorn and fairy floss and a drink! Evie.
  • At Carlsruhe Fair I went on the big slide and I had fairy floss and soda. I watched magic tricks and patted the chicken and my favourite chicken was Marshmallow. Maggie.
  • At the Carlsruhe Fair I got a toffee apple! I went on the Choo Choo train it looked like it had a fire in it – but it was fake! The Choo Choo was very fun. Bernard
  • When I went to the Carlsruhe Fair I went on the big, big slide and I and lots of turns on it. I also got some fairy floss. I played on the aiming gain, where you had to hit the target. I won a fairy tale sticker. Knox
  • I got to play this game where you needed to go through a train. There were two things that had air and you went through and there was a fun obstacle course. There was slide and you could land on something at the bottom. Lucy.

Yesterday, the Foundation students tried to encourage some summer weather by making bright and colourful icy-poles! We practiced designing, cutting and decorating them. We took them home before they melted in the classroom!!

  • I liked decorating the icy-poles because I liked gluing the decorations on. Edie
  • We made our icy-poles out of cardboard and tissue paper. We decorated with stick and paper to look like sprinkles. Xavier
