Child Safety

WWC
St Joseph’s Primary School is committed to providing a child safe environment and takes active steps to ensure any person authorised to conduct ‘child connected works’ does not pose a risk to their safety or welfare. To achieve this, the school implements screening processes, including Working with Children Checks (WWCC), to assess and verify their suitability
St Joseph’s Primary School ensure that non-teaching staff, contractors, volunteers and visitors are of suitable character and do not have a relevant criminal record that poses an unjustifiable risk to children.
St Joseph’s Primary School acknowledges that exemptions do exist under the Victorian Government’s Working With Children’s Act 2005; however, mandates that all non-teaching staff, contractors, volunteers and visitors maintain a current WWCC and provide a copy to the school prior to being authorised to participate.
Volunteers and Visitors are required to maintain a ‘Volunteer WWCC’. These checks are free of charge. Volunteers and Visitors can apply for a ‘Volunteer WWCC’ via the Working With Children Check Website.
If you have a current WWC card and have not provided a copy to the school, can you please give it to Amanda in the office to make a copy.

What to do when your child is absent or late to school.
Absent
If your child is absent you must ring the office before 9am on the day of the absence. By law, school’s must follow up student absence as soon as possible to ensure the physical location of each student is known.
Late arrival
If your child is late or has an appointment and will not be at school until later in the day, parents must ring the office before 9am. Children who are late, must be signed in at the office by a parent. Please remember that a late arrival disprupts the class learning time and this term there has seen a big increase in late arrivals, can parents please ensure children arrive to school on time, if car parking is an issue, children can be dropped off at the back of the oval also.
Please find attached our School Attendance Policy
School Speed Limit
Please remember that the speed limit along Martin Street is 40 KMH and we urge parents to please stick to the speed limit. The weather is getting nicer to ride/walk to school and foot/bike traffic will increase from both schools.
