Literacy in 5/6CO

As part of Literacy, 5/6CO had to research and deliver an oral presentation on an inspiring community leader.

Here you can see Evan Phan and Ha Nguyen delivering their oral presentations on their chosen community leaders. Evan chose Elon Musk who founded three innovative companies including Paypal while Ha chose Michelle Simmons, a female scientist. Below are some of the students’ responses to why they chose their particular community leader.

I chose Michael Jordan because he inspired me to play basketball. He also inspires me to help those in need, Michael Jordan treats every single person with dignity and always believes that there is a way, no matter what the problem is.

I chose Jessica Gallagher because she never gives up and even though she is blind she can do anything.

• Samantha Stathopoulos

I chose Mother Teresa because she was a loving, kind, caring person who helped the poor and the sick. She was always a resilient person because she never thought about how hard it would be to help, she just helped those she could help and never gave up.

• Dorace Cheung

I chose Adam Bandt because he inspires me to care about the environment.
