Sport Crowds
It is fantastic for our community to support their school mates during lunchtimes, especially when the vast majority are cheering on and creating a fantastic atmosphere for both sets of teams. It is with great satisfaction when we as a school are complimented with how well our students behave.
However it is with great disappointment to write that a small number of individuals take it upon themselves to boo or abuse the opposition teams when taking the field or in general play. This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
What can you do if you find yourself amongst this behaviour:
- Don’t get involved
- Move away so that these people feel isolated
- Call out the bad behaviour
The responsibility is up to everyone to make sure that we as a college create a great environment for all, especially competing teams.
Please note:- To ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors, all spectators are required to sign in at the front office on arrival at the College, and to sign out when leaving the College grounds.
ACC Spectator Code of Behaviour
As a spectator of any activity held by or under the auspices of the ACC, you must meet the following requirements in regard to your conduct during any such activity or event:
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.
- Remember that each student participates in sport primarily for enjoyment.
- Focus on the efforts and performance of the participants, rather than winning or losing.
- Never ridicule or yell at participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.
- Show appreciation for good performance and skilful play by all participants (including opposing players).
- Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility especially when dealing with or in the vicinity of persons under 18 years of age, as your words and actions are an example.
- Respect officials’ decisions and encourage others to do likewise.
- Do not physically or verbally abuse or harass anyone associated with the sport (player, coach, umpire and so on).
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
- Be a positive role model.
Sports Injuries
If athletes are injured and are unable to participate in an ACC game during the week, please do the following:
- Have a note with you, either signed by your parents or health professional to explain the injury/illness
- Advise your coach, preferably as soon as possible
- You are still expected to be with the team for both home and away games
