Ancient Worlds Tour 2019

2017 Tour of Greece and Italy

Information night

Monday August 13, 6pm, Room M1 in the main school building.

Following a brilliant tour of Greece and Italy at the end of 2017, we are again offering students the opportunity to explore the ancient civilizations of these two countries.

The tour will focus on Classical Greek and Roman sites including the Acropolis in Athens, the oracle at Delphi and the complex of stadia and temples in Olympia as well as the Colosseum in Rome and Pompeii and Herculaneum in the Naples area.

The trip is a chance for students studying (or planning to study) Ancient History or Classics to get a first-hand view of the places they are reading about but is open to anyone with an interest in mythology, archaeology or the ancient world more generally.

This tour is open to all students, but the amount of travel involved makes it more suited for those who will be in Year 10/11/12 in 2019. The dates are planned so that we leave in late November after VCE exams – allowing students in Year 12 to participate. This also means we are travelling outside of the expensive and crowded peak times and can fully appreciate the sites we are visiting.

At the information night we will run through a draft itinerary, discuss some of the practical aspects of the tour, provide an estimate of costs, answer your questions and collect expressions of interest.
