Enjoying the Design Show
Recently we have been fortunate enough to be able to showcase Design Thinking undertaken by Semester One students in their design projects and also by Monash University.
Design Thinking is a widely used method for creative problem solving that is used in many industries and it underpins the work undertaken in Design and Technology and many STEM projects at Northcote High School.
Firstly, we had lecturers and students from Monash University run a “Creativity Roadshow” where students learned some fun techniques to access Design Thinking. The activities involved creative risk taking, lots of lateral thinking and prototyping.
At the end of last term, we also had our first ever Semester One Design Show. Every student had the opportunity to select and display key elements of their design projects including their successes and failures! It is always great to see students confidently explaining their journey and use of Design Thinking to others.
It is also unique to see such a wide variety of projects on display from every year level and we are looking forward to seeing you all again at our next Design Show event at the end of the year.
