Wellbeing Report

Andre Campbell

We continue to have lots of conversations with our families to better understand the changes to families during the lockdown.  Everyone appears to cope differently.  Children can pick up on parents stress very easily, even if they don’t outwardly show it.  Be honest with your children about your own concerns, but reassure them that there are measures in place to protect all of us.  Give your child the basic information they need and then see what questions they may have. Routines are important to everyone.  Find a moment with everyone in the family to talk about routines and what everyone needs to do for work, learning, household jobs and play.   You can make visual schedules to help children learn what comes next.  Focus on positive stories, talk about the fun activities you've enjoyed together during lockdown, or make a list of things you're looking forward to in the future.   Headspace offer some practical tips at:

We have been also talking to parents on how to help their children cope with anxiety and fears. They are worried about a number of issues ranging from falling behind in their school work, getting to sleep, worrying about family members, loss of pets and also relationships/friendships.   If you are looking for information and strategies about anxiety, I have included a link to Dr. Justin Coulson at:
