What's Been On

Last weekend showcased a movie night and marshmallows around the open fire, but by Monday the foul weather and storms forced the cancellation of the Collie hockey.

Tuesday we commenced netball in the Harvey competition with two teams and both teams played well. One team had a win for their first game and both captains, Bec Muir and Tayla Forbes stepped up and showed some great leadership qualities. Well done girls. Thanks also to Casey Cole who has nominated to umpire as well as play.

Country Week and local community trainings have continued this week with gusto across many sports.

On Wednesday evenings the craft workshop and sports nights have continued – this week with indoor hockey. The cooking classes will recommence when the oven has been installed down at Hort.

The chocolate sales have commenced again in the evenings and this has been well supported by the students and staff.

Open Day

Students are reminded that for Open Day, they will require a clean unmarked uniform for the day on whatever section they are on.

Trades/Farm- clean, neat trades/farm uniform, polished boots.

Class uniform  - for all other students are in their formal College uniform.

Residential students we will check uniforms early next week during prep time.

All dorms will be locked on Open Day, with the only exception being  the Tallanalla dorm which will be open for display purposes.  In this dorm all students' rooms will be locked, but the common areas will be accessible and we will have a display set up for the prospective students and parents to see.

Green leave slips - Students will require a green slip to be filled out by their section leader on the day allowing them to leave the section, prior to being able to sign out to their Reach leave.  This slip clearly states they have finished their commitment on the section and can therefore depart for home. No student will be cleared to depart without this slip and you will be unable to start the departure process.

New Cook – Kelly Genge

This week, Kelly the new cook, started onsite. Please make yourself known to her and make her feel part of the “Harvey Ag” family.

Welcome Back - David O'Shaughnessy

Thanks and welcome back on board to Mr David O’Shaughnessy. David has agreed to assist with filling in for Residential over the term until such a time as we fill some advertised positions.  David has previously worked at the College as the Head of Boarding.

Cold and Flu

Well the prediction was right. The colder weather has brought on the colds and flu through residence and we have had a growing number cases of students needing to go home during Week 5.

Students please remain vigilant with the handwashing and personal hygiene around the College.

  • Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
  • Wash your hands and make good use of the hand sanitiser which can be found all over the school.

Most of all, stay at home if you are sick and do not return until you are better. Unfortunately, in our tight living environment when you are sick you are unknowingly putting everyone at risk.
