Metals

Mr Briggs was kept busy with Year 10s on an array of projects.

  • Students have started making dice and are concentrating on accurately drilling and oxy fusion welding.
  • Folding shovels, which require accurate marking, some fabrication and machining using the lathe.
  • Fabricating a tool box is also on the list of projects, which requires accurate marking out.

Year 12 Trades Talk - Iluka

As part of introducing students to the industry, Year 12 Trade students participated in a talk from Iluka. Two of their apprentice supervisors spoke about the company and up coming apprenticeships.

Students were advised to go on SEEK regularly as this is where they advertised jobs. It was also suggested to the students, that they prepare their resumes early and practice job interviews. Consideration should be taken when preparing projects or tasks they are proud of and problems which they solved, their outcome, hobbies and community activities.
