There are over 12,000 castles in Germany (either standing or in ruins). The most popular castle with tourists visiting Germany is Neuschwanstein Castle in the picturesque Bavarian Alps. Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle is modelled after Neuschwanstein.

 

 

 

  • Germany is composed of sixteen states. The states have their own constitution and are largely autonomous in regard to their internal organization. At the municipal level, Germany is divided into 403 districts (Kreise), of which 301 are rural districts and 102 urban districts. Bavaria is the largest state.
  • Berlin has the largest train station in Europe. It has a name called “Leipzig Hauptbahnhof”, which translates into Leipzig central station. It reaches up to 83,460 square metres. It has also been ranked the best railway in Europe.
  • The first ever printed book was actually in German. It was produced by Johannes Gutenberg in 1455, who titled the book “Gutenberg Bible”. It marked the start of the "Gutenberg Revolution" and the age of printed books in the West.
