Fit for Life Program

KHS has been successfully participating in the PCYC’s ‘Fit for Life’ on Wednesday mornings for the last 3 years.

‘Fit for Life’ is an entry-level activity using sport, boxing (boxercise), education and mentoring to encourage young people to connect with PCYC NSW and engage with the school in a youth-friendly, physically and culturally safe environment.

‘Fit for Life’ is based around the 5 core principles of PCYC - commitment, resilience, integrity, citizenship and respect, which are taught and reinforced through sporting activity. This program focuses on fitness, engagement with local police and the community, impacting change, positive growth and inclusion. The program has delivered positive outcomes, increasing school attendance, improving attentiveness and behaviour, which provides mental health and general wellbeing benefits.

Our KHS ‘Fit for Life’ team has really enjoyed their morning sessions with the PCYC. Our team is made up of up to 20 interested students who have been nominated by staff or parents, and many students who have self referred. At the moment, our focus is working with students in years 8 and 9.

We are taking referrals for the Semester 2 group at the moment. Students and carers are welcome to speak with Miss Cass to find out more about the program and see if it is right for them.

Thanks,

Miss Cass
