Snapshot of Learning by Grade 6

Term Two has been engaging one for Year 6 students. In Inquiry Learning, the focus was on a unit of work called “Put a Spark in it!” A highlight for the unit was an excursion to Scienceworks. The students enjoyed exploring the exhibitions while completing a Scienceworks Quiz.

The Grade 6 students were also lucky enough to attend the amazing  “Lightning Show”. The Lightning show demonstrated the giant Tesla Coil, capable of generating more than two million volts of electricity to produce three metre lightning bolts.

Some of the other displays included an electromagnetic can crusher, a Jacob’s ladder, lightning safety strategies and a high voltage pickle onion that can really light up your day!

Grade 6 students have been investigating how circuits work and developing their understanding about how energy flows through systems. The Grade 6 students planned, designed and created their own models which contained electrical circuits.

A special thank you to our wonderful Year 6 teachers Mrs Karina Hannett, Ms Taylor Phelan, Ms Jade Youssef  and Mr Karl Camerino for organising such a wonderful term of learning for the Year 6 students.

Kindest regards
