Principal's Report

Cross Country

The weather was kind to us and we were able to run our Years 3-6 Cross Country.  Thank you to all the parents that supported, cheered and celebrated with the students and thank you to the students who completed the cross country to the absolute best they could.  The first ten students in each age group have the opportunity to attend the District Cross Country and I wish all those students the very best.

Reading Every Night

It was a fabulous response from the children at our last whole school assembly where students have aimed to read every night if they weren’t in that routine. We are having those focussed discussions with students pertaining to their reading habits and the schools expectations. We know there is strong evidence that the relationship between children’s reading and their reading abilities is extremely strong.  Thank you for your ongoing support and your understanding in making sure you provide the right setting for students to thrive at home to better develop their reading habits.

Traffic and Parking

Please show respect and courtesy when you park your cars when you are dropping off or picking up your children.  Neighbours have reported that parents are still parking their cars in and over their driveways and leaving the car.  Please be considerate and thoughtful when parking.

Showcase Concert

On Wednesday evening we had around 35 students showcase their wonderful musical talents.  Families were able to enjoy the developing skills and abilities of students who are learning an instrument.  Congratulations to all students who were involved on the night, it was a real treat to see so many students with passion and dedication to work, and on mastering their instrument.  Thank you Mr. Fox for supporting our students and providing a night for families and students to celebrate their achievements.

Production Tickets

Tickets were to go on sale from 9 am on Monday the 31st May. Due to our 7 day lockdown, please look out for new information on Monday for a new ticket purchasing date.  Please make sure you know what night your child/ren are performing before you book your tickets.  This musical extravaganza only happens every two years, so don’t miss out, log on and secure your tickets early.

National Young Leaders Day

On Monday our Year 6 Leaders had the opportunity to attend the National Young Leaders Conference.  Rebecca Koole, our Year 6 Team Leader, was extremely proud of our students who represented our school beautifully and loved the way our students engaged with the conference and the motivating discussion that occurred later.

On Tuesday, all Year 6 students attended a Year 6 leadership conference called Grip.  Our students were involved in a motivating and inspiring day to enhance and further develop their own level of leadership and personal development.  Thank you to Year 6 staff for their support and guidance to all students and the students who were exemplary in their behaviour and interaction.

Year 6 Camp

Our Year 6 students and staff attended Campaspe Downs for a four day outdoor challenge camp.  The camp incorporates all aspects of an outdoor adventure camp that supports students to have the confidence to challenge themselves and try things that are new.  Well done to all students, I was incredibly proud of each and every one of you. A massive thank you to the Year 6 staff, Karen Evered, Taylah Russell and Leanne Bentley. Thank you to our wonderful parent Morten Windfeld-Lund who supported staff and students on the camp.

Prep Enrolments for 2022

If you have a child that will be attending Boronia Heights PS in 2022 we are taking enrolments NOW.  The Education Department are requesting that all Prep enrolments are completed by the end of Term 2.  If you know anyone who would like to have further information about our school or enrol their child, please ask them to phone the school so we can talk them through the process or book a tour on our website.

Oval and Gardens

Even though the weather and now an unexpected lockdown has been against us, we are still hopeful of having the ovals and gardens handed over to us before the end of term.  Cross your fingers and toes, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Finally, as we enter a 7 day circuit breaker lockdown, I appeal to all students and families to stay positive and participate in Google Classroom as best you can in the coming four days.  All staff have worked hard today to rework next weeks teaching and learning, and I thank them for their amazing effort.  Please, if you need anything or just need things clarified don’t hesitate to contact your teacher or the office.

Take care, stay positive and look after yourselves.
