From the Principal Class Team

Year 10 Graduation

Our Year 10 cohort stepped out in style at their recent graduation. It was such a privilege to see the personal growth of this wonderful group of students who celebrated their achievements together. The Year 10 band played two fantastic sets and the students had a very memorable evening. A very big thank you to the Middle School Team who organised this sensational event and a big thank you to our Year 10 students who showed the most exemplary behaviour and demonstrated, without a doubt, they are ready to be seniors and role models at our school.

Food bank

A big thank you to our Interact Club who organised a very successful food drive. All proceeds have been donated to Food Bank Victoria who will distribute the food to people in need across our region. Thank you to the members of our school community that donated to this worthy cause to support people in need over the holiday period.

Donations of Uniforms and Textbooks

If you have old uniforms from past students or perhaps items that no longer fit, please donate these back to the school. We will ensure they are distributed to families in need. We also love to receive text book donations as well. Any support you can provide can really make a difference to help someone less fortunate.

Voice for change

Four students form the College that participated in the recent Voice for Change program were selected to work with professional artists and sound engineers and attend a music workshop and recording session at a Port Melbourne Studio. From here students will continue to rehearse and record tracks, while chosen students will perform at the AUSTRALIAN OPEN! Fingers cross for our amazing students, Shalom, Lance, Serena and Amir!

Year 9 Dance Celebration

Our Year 9 dance students put on a dance extravaganza for their entire cohort last week. They danced up a storm and reminded us all of the importance of the Arts in creating a vibrant and rich school community. A big congratulations to the students and their fabulous teachers for their hard work. It was a great show!

Holiday Programs.

The school has established some fantastic partnerships with providers who are offering our students some wonderful holiday programs. These include music and arts programs, coffee making and sport. For more information and to sign up, check out the COMPASS newsfeed.

And finally....

We would like to acknowledge the generous support of our School Council throughout 2018. This year, parent, community and staff members were joined by two student representatives, bringing even greater diversity and strength of voice to the school’s governance. We thank them for their commitment to the continued growth and development of the college, and to always ensuring that it provides high quality education and opportunities to the young people of St Albans.

Our sincere thanks, too, to our staff team, both teaching and education support, for their dedication and work this year on behalf of all our students and families. Their skill, expertise, and passion for education and making a difference in the lives of young people ensure that the school holds the place it does in the eyes of the students and the community.

The partnership with, and amazing support we enjoy from our families are also hugely appreciated, and make our work so much more enjoyable and rewarding.

We wish our students, families and staff a restful, happy and safe break over the summer, and look forward to seeing you again in the new year.

To those students and families who will be leaving St Albans Secondary College, we wish you all the best for the future.
