Principal's Report

Principal's Report
The school year has started well for Staughton students and teachers who have settled well into the routines of a new year. We are looking forward to the further development of responsible, reflective and resilient ‘Staughton Effective Learners’ in 2016.
Many areas of the buildings and grounds have been freshened over the holiday break, providing cleaner, brighter, learning areas for the beginning of 2016. Students have again been making good use of the outdoor facilities, including the basketball courts and our multipurpose court area. As in 2015, there are many games of down ball being played at lunch!
Staughton College will again be providing opportunities for parents to meet with class teachers in 2016. You can expect three Parent Teacher Day/Nights in 2016. We believe that a collaborative approach is very important in student learning outcomes and success.
Tutorial Groups
Tutorial Groups continue for a second year for 20 minutes after session 2. We can see the effect they are having in improving students reading comprehension. This is a key skill for understanding in all the subjects they will study at school, as well as in their life outside of school.
College Council Elections
Elections for parent reps on College Council will take place in March, with a call for nominations for Parent vacancies in mid-February.
