EISM Div 1 Swimming

Ben Bishop, Head of Sport

Well done to the Kilvington Division 1 Swimming team which placed fourth overall in the EISM Div 1 Swimming Annual Carnival held on 4 March. We were very close to third place, highlighting the terrific Kilvington effort; our ‘best ever’ result.

This was an awesome team achievement, especially considering the size of our School in comparison to much larger and more populated schools, many of which have their own swimming pools, and as such train all year round for these events.

Congratulations to all the girls and boys involved, with their many individual and relay highlights. Many thanks to our swim coaches, Emma and Sarah Hedger for training and selecting our team, and to Jon Charlton for coming along and supporting the team.

Thank you also to Kylie and Kerryn for giving up their evening and assisting the EISM with officiating duties.

Meeting Olympians _ Years 8 and 9 Athletics Squad

Our Years 8 and 9 Athletics Squad were fortunate enough to meet two Australian Athletic Olympians on Thursday 12 March,  when they saw Ryan Gregson (1500m) and Genevieve Gregson (3000m Steeplechase) at Duncan MacKinnon.

Ryan and Genevieve were at the track promoting the upcoming Glen Huntly Track Classic being held on 3 April. The students got to spend 5 minutes asking them about their experiences and advice.

Ryan Gregson holds the Australian record for the Men’s 1500m and Genevieve holds the Australian record for 3000m Steeplechase. Both athletes will be hoping to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics at the Australian Championships in Sydney later this month.
