Pentecost Sunday

The birth of the Church

Last week we celebrated a very special event in the Church's Liturgical calendar, PENTECOST SUNDAY.

It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other disciples following the Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ (Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2:1-31),and it marks the beginning of the Christian church's mission to the world.

Below students in 3/4 Howley and Dainton have put themselves in the shoes of the Disciples on the day of Pentecost, more than 2,000 years ago and wrote letters to their parents back home.

The students were immersed into the event of Pentecost and all the students came away from the learning task with a greater understanding of what it would have felt like to have been one of the Disciples on Pentecost Sunday.  A very fine effort from all the students involved.
