Specialist Classes

ART

The last few weeks we’ve spent Art creating our special Mother’s Day gifts. The students brought in a bottle to paint/ collage and turn into a vase and also made some gorgeous paper flowers to go with it. They were made with so much love and we hope all the special recipients adored them.

Check out the vibrant display they made on our incredible new display peg boards!! These boards are going to be wonderful to display so many creations and used in many different ways.

STEM

The Foundation and Grade 1/2 students really enjoyed exploring light and sound that can be found in the home this week in STEM. Using a mystery bag of typical home items, they created a venn diagram using hula hoops where they were required to identify the objects as being light producing, sound producing or both.

SPORT

We're getting into footy season over here at St Pat's with coaches from the AFL coming out to run our little Paddys through two AFL clinics, May 11 and May 18. We worked on hand-eye coordination with the footballs, learnt some ripper drills for our footy skills and played some awesome games. It was great to see the enthusiasm for these sessions through keen participation of all students.

Massive shout out to our  long distance runners teaming up with coach Tootie and coach Abby, getting firing fit by running our 3km track in Tongala in preparation for the interschool cross Country Thursday May 18. Congratulations on demonstrating discipline and commitment to your training, fantastic effort!

ITALIAN

Buongiorno a tutti!

Foundation to Gr 2 students have been busily learning about Il Corpo (the body), beginning with parts of the face. Students were creative when designing their face and then labelled  the eyes, nose, ears, hair and mouth. Each week students will be learning more vocabulary to add to their word bank.

Grades 3-6 are continuing their learning around Cinque Terre (five lands), on the Italian Riviera Coastline. One of these villages feature in the movie, “Luca”  which the students will watch later in the Term.

We have been learning about cultural norms in Italy that feature in the movie as well as analysing characters. Next week we will be focusing on the Vespa, which plays an important role in the movie.
