Letter to Family and Friends

Dear Pilgrim Families,

Jenni Forder’s wellbeing article in this issue discusses being hopeful and building resilience. I’m blessed to be part of the Pilgrim team where we focus not only on teaching the curriculum, but are intentional about developing the students into future adults who are equipped to be positive members of our community who can handle what life’s journey holds for them.

We are all having to practise resilience at the moment whilst the roofing work is being done. There is a lot of messiness and inconvenience and the timing has been pushed back due to delays caused by a lot of rain. We don’t have certainty around when it’s all going to be done, nor around when the first stage will be complete which then means tackling the large task of moving classrooms and office spaces around again ready for Stage 2. Some of our classes and staff are working in different spaces and don’t have access to all of their normal resources, so sometimes we have to be creative or compromise or work around our current circumstances.

Through all of this, we have the hope and expectation that the work will soon be completed. It hasn’t happened to the exact timing we would have wanted nor what we expected at the outset, and we’re having to be flexible and resilient and put up with the mess. But what a great outcome we have to look forward to!

It makes me think of our journey with God. Sometimes things don’t happen like we want or expect, and not always the timing we would choose. And we have to cope with a bit of messiness at times. But we trust in God to help us deal with all that comes our way and we have a hope of better things to come, and ultimately for eternity in heaven.

Blessings,

Michael Denholm
