MURRAY RIVER CULINARY CHALLENGE
MS MANDY MCCALLUM - VET HOSPITALITY TEACHER
On Monday 5th June, five of the 1st Year VET Hospitality students participated in the inter-school Culinary Challenge. The competition is run each year by Murray Mallee LLEN and this year was judged by local chefs Ryan Box and Rebecca Hart. The students were set the task of preparing a three course meal within an allocated time frame. They were judged on the preparation, organisation, presentation of each course as well as their OHS standards.
The menu this year was; Panzanalla salad, sage and cauliflower risotto and either a fruit platter or ingredients from a mystery box could be used to create their dessert. The judges commented on the level of skill the students displayed in both their cooking and organisation and commended them for their participation.
The winners on the day were Francesco Tuntar and Shakira Siggins. Francesco and Shakira will now go on to represent St Mary MacKillop College in the Regional Final at Kerang Technical College on the 14th August 2023.
