Last Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday evening saw the students go into Eaton Fair for some shopping and restocking of essential supplies.

Saturday morning was an early start with an excited group of students heading off to Perth for an excursion to Ifly. This is a vertical wind tunnel simulating the Sky diving experience and all students involved really enjoyed themselves. Students and staff stopped in to the Carousel Shopping Centre on the way back to the College.

Saturday evening many joined in a game of indoor hockey and soccer, just to expend some more energy.

Sunday morning many students joined Sally for an enjoyable walk up to Beef for a picnic in amazing surrounds whilst enjoying some magnificent weather.

Weekly Activities

Monday evening we had Gina Newport from “Dindindi Drumming” come to the College and run the first of five workshops for our Year 12 Boarding students. Rhythm and music has social and therapeutic benefits for children, as well as being loads of fun. It can help them focus, open lines of communication and understand the importance of working in a team.

We have divided the students into two groups and these sessions will run for five consecutive weeks, one on Monday and the other on Wednesday evenings . Gina is very experienced in the field, and we are excited to have her share this experience with our students.

Tuesday evening our girls had another game of netball in town.  After a hard-fought match the entire way through the game, which resulted in a draw.

Wednesday the other Year 12 group began their “Dindindi Drumming “program here onsite, whilst our two volleyball teams played each other in the town competition.

Last night we celebrated National Boarding Week with students getting involved in intra dorm competitions as a bit of fun. There were sack races, tug of war competition and a paper plane making competition which gave competitors 30 seconds to fold a piece of paper and fly it to see who’s went the furthest distance.

Thanks very much to all the dorm monitors and residential staff who assisted in making the evening a success.

This Weekend

This Saturday we were kindly donated the tickets through a parent of an ex-student to see the Dockers play Geelong in Perth.  Unfortunately, as usual student readily sign up for these excursions, but then withdraw rapidly making the organising staff wonder why they go to all the effort and planning.

Open Day

Next week is our Open Day and all students are expected to participate in the day. The College will not assist students to get to public transport, unless prior approval to not attend has been applied for and approved from the Principal Mr Watt.
