Equestrian

It’s been another busy week in the Equestrian Centre. We welcomed Amanda Archer as a guest instructor last Thursday where students worked on horse handling and flatwork lessons particular to their horse. This week we welcome Meaghan Jonstone a NCAS Level 1 instructor from Macarthur who will be instructing many of our students in polework.

Saturday 3 June we will run a Jumps training day for both school and non-school students. We will begin with cross rails at 9am and work our way through the classes and heights as required. Places are limited and must be booked by contacting equestrian@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au or calling the number of the flyer attached.

Thursday 8 June will see us reinstate our hotly contested College Interhouse Dressage Competition. This is open to both senior and junior students - senior students begin competing at 1.40pm and junior riders are after school. We’d love to see as many students as possible supporting their House. Details are attached.

If you’re up at the Equestrian Centre on the weekend, you may see a new face on staff. We welcome Kait Cornish to the Equestrian Centre team who hs taken on the role of Weekend Assistant. She’s been busy getting to know all the staff, students and their horses and comes with a wealth of experience in keeping and tending to her own equine family. If you’re needing to bring a horse in on the weekend, Kait will be available between 3.30-4.30pm on a Sunday to meet you, with prior arrangement. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept horses outside these hours as we are not staffed.

We also welcome new student to the program, Shavon Wong. Shavon joins us from Singapore where her love for horses has been carefully nurtured through the Singapore Turf Club. Shavon is keen to lease a horse while she is here in Australia and has experience jumping at 90cm. If you have, or know of anything that may suit, we’d appreciate you getting in touch.

Finally, Muirne Reilly has again been out and about, competing at Naracoorte Cross Country last weekend with what she describes as ‘her best round yet’. We love to celebrate what our student riders are achieving so if you have a story or news, please make contact.

Happy riding!
