Assessment and Reporting 2018

Student Performance Average (SPA)

On the Friday of Week 6 of each Term, the SPA average for all students will be available on Compass. The SPA average is a measurement of Student Performance in every subject based around productive use of class time, attitude and effort, managing personal learning, attendance and punctuality. A copy of the measurements are located at the end of this newsletter.

Semester Reports

This year Students in Year 7-10 will receive a statement of results. This will contain teacher judgements measured against the Victorian Curriculum and results for the three School Assessed Coursework (SAC) pieces completed across the semester. There will not be any teacher comments on these reports. The semester reports will be available on Compass at the end of Term 1 and Term 3 and will only be printed on request.

Compass Progressive Online Feedback

Replacing teacher comments on the Semester Report will be Compass Progressive Online Feedback. At regular intervals across a semester Parents will be able to view the comments regarding SACs online through their Compass portal. Progressive Online Feedback will bring Mooroopna Secondary College into line with most other State and Private Secondary Colleges in Greater Shepparton. It is an excellent way to obtain real time information from your teacher about your child’s progress as opposed to the end of a semester when opportunities for improvement and your support have ended.

The most crucial component of our Assessment and Reporting program is to ensure that you have logged into Compass on your home computer, smart tablet, iPad or smart phone to receive the most up to date information about your child. The College has tablets available at the Front Office during business hours should you wish to come in and log onto Compass and browse through your Portal. Do not hesitate to contact the College with any concerns regarding Compass.

Uniform

Over the past fortnight we have been speaking with all students in Year 8 and 9 about correct uniform. In some cases Uniform Infringement letters have been issued for out of uniform. These Infringement letters provide the College with an understanding of when students will correct their uniform. If you need to discuss your child’s Uniform contact the relevant Year Level Coordinator.
