Principal's Report

Principal's Report:

Two weeks gone already, and what a busy time it has been.

Last week I spent two nights in a swag at Camp Howqua with the Year 8 campers, and the day in between with the Year 7 students. It was great to see the students in a different setting, and how they reacted to the activities that they undertook. It is a great chance for students to step outside their comfort zone and try something different. The growth in mindset was very obvious to see for most of the students. The high ropes, and horse riding in particular, were very challenging for some. Well done to all the Year 7 and 8 students who attended, and particular thanks to Mr Townsend, Mrs Falk and Mrs Cornelius for their organisation of the camp, and also to the teachers and support staff who braved the elements and participated in the camp.

Parent – Teacher interviews were once again a very successful event. If you were unable to make it, and would like to catch up with any teachers, please call and make an appointment to discuss the progress of your child.

As you have no doubt heard, a ministerial announcement regarding the creation of a new school in Shepparton was recently confirmed, and most importantly the funding for the first stage was committed. This is an exciting time, as we work towards the creation of a school that provides for the educational needs of students, and provides pathways for all of the future students of the Greater Shepparton area. There is a lot of work to be completed before students first enter the new school, and some of this work is already under way. As in previous stages, extensive consultation will be undertaken and will commence shortly. We will keep you informed as information becomes available.

As I write, I am preparing to leave for our annual athletics carnival, which I trust will be as successful as the swimming sports.

Next Monday (30th April) we will be holding our Information Night for prospective 2019 Year 7 students. Further details are included later in the Newsletter.
