Faith and Wellbeing Assistant Principal's Report

Nazareth Day Mass

On Thursday 29 August 2019 we were very blessed to have Fr Kevin Davine of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate join us to celebrate our School Mass for Nazareth Day. Fr Davine has recently celebrated 60 years of Priestly Ministry and we were most grateful for both his presence with us on Thursday and the enormous gift of serving God’s people over 60 years .  Mr Cosentino thanked and congratulated him on behalf of the Nazareth Community.

At our Mass we celebrated our rich multi-cultural community with a procession of flags of some of the nations that form part of our community’s background, as well as having the Prayer of the Faithful in different languages.  We also called upon the Holy Spirit to continue to bless and guide our Nazareth Community.

As the day progressed the students enjoyed the activities and in the afternoon we saw the talents of our students on display in the Talent Quest and we were once again reminded how blessed we are to be a part of such a fantastic community.  It was a great day and celebration of Nazareth College.

Lockers

It is concerning to see a number of students without locks on their lockers.  We strongly encourage all students to have a lock for their lockers to secure their books, bag, digital devices etc during the school day.

Winter Sleep Out

A big thank you to the 80 students who camped out or slept in the gymnasium for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Sleep Out on a chilly Friday 30 August 2019. The students had a great night together and also took some time to reflect a little on those less fortunate than ourselves and also pray for the many people who are homeless and struggling financially to have their basic needs met.

A big thank you to Ms Douglass and the St Vincent de Paul students for organising the night and the generous staff who attended.  We hope and pray this helps us all to grow in love, compassion and action for those in need.
