Year 7 Highlights

We finally got there… and it was worth the wait! Our Year 7 camp was at Rawson Village, a two hour drive away, north of Melbourne. It was great to be outdoors in the tree-laden grounds of this camp. The weather was also in our favour, most of the time, for being out in the fresh air. We were also spoiled with our accommodation, with each room having only three bunk beds and an ensuite.

"Camp was the best experience. We did get the news that we would still go but later in the year. I didn't realize that I could make so many new friends. Many people have told me that they have made new and awesome friendships as well. The activities were definitely the best part of the whole camp. We did commando course, high wall rock climbing, zip line, high ropes, mountain biking, archery, initiatives and bush walking. Overall camp is a really good experience because you get to make new friends, conquer fears and try new things. I would definitely recommend camp to everyone."

"Year 7 camp can be scary for most in the first year of high school as you are not used to how things work yet, but when you have welcoming peers, enthusiastic teachers and encouraging mentors, camp is a breeze. There were obviously challenges, such as the activities, whether it was pushing yourself to climb the top of the rock climbing wall or even just trying another food, everyone accomplished something. Camp was like a vacation, I mean three days without doing maths is better than anything. But seriously overall camp was not only an experience, it was an opportunity and I’m glad that I was a part of that."

Three of our students have been doing very well in our sports in both Beachside Division and Southern Metropolitan Region, Liam Mischel and Seif El-Shorbagy have qualified to compete over in Perth. Congratulations to you all, we are very proud of you.

Year 8 Highlights

The Year 8s have had a positive start to the final term of the school year. All Year 8 teams participated in a workshop run by Headspace where they engaged in various activities to build a mental health and wellbeing toolkit and developed practical tips for a healthy headspace.

Last week, many Year 8 teams were lucky enough to be audience to 3 Murrumbeena Primary School student speakers who gave a fantastic and insightful presentation on the current sustainability issue of fashion pollution. For students (or families) who are interested in learning more about this, visit this website https://www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/campaigns/war-on-waste or have a look at the ABC War on Waste documentary series.

We are also in the final stages of organising our Year 8 camp at Kangaroobie and are very excited for the experience! Parents and guardians are reminded to check Xuno to give permission and payments. Further detailed information including packing lists and activity groups will be provided in the coming weeks.

Finally, we would like to congratulate our very own William Wong on his incredible success competing at SSV athletics where he not only won gold in the Boys 12-13 Hurdles, but set a new state record - what an achievement!

Year 9 2020 (Current Year 8 students)

Please note that in 2020 there will be a number of students changing teams for Year 9. Students will be informed of any changes prior to transition in early December. This is a great opportunity for students to learn with new peers.
