Around The Primary

Dear Parents,

Last Saturday afternoon the Junior Primary Oval was transformed in readiness for the Primary Family Picnic. The fun and games began at 5pm and over 700 came along for this annual event. A great time was had by all and it is through events like this that we realise what a fantastic community spirit we have at John XXIII.

The picnic was a huge success due to our energetic and hardworking Primary Picnic committee, including Clay and Ainsley Gourdis, Jennifer Cabassi and Juliet Lennon. Our thanks are extended to Ric Del Pizzo, Doug Watson and Jeff Jansen for all their hard work behind the scenes and to the many parents and Secondary students that volunteered to assist on the night.

Our heartfelt thanks to all the families for supporting this event and, of course, to the children for making special memories for us all to enjoy. The picnic serves as an important link between home and school – a sense of community joining family and education.

It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents arriving for our Assembly this morning. Special thanks to Miss Cooney and Year 2 Gold for showcasing their learning about caring for our teeth. It was great to see so many happy and excited faces on the stage.

As part of the Pre Primary - Year 6 Assessment and Reporting process, Parent-Teacher Interviews will be taking place at the end of this term. This is a valuable time for you to spend with your son/daughter's teacher discussing your child's academic and social progress.

Your child is not required to come along to the interview. It will be a two-way process between teacher and parent/s. However, we encourage all parents to discuss their child's future goals with them at home after the interview.

All parents are required to book their parent teacher meeting online. (PTO) bookings can be made online. The link can be found on the College Web Page under 'Quick links' and then 'Events-Online bookings'. Alternatively, you can click on the link below and it will take you straight to the log in screen.

With Easter nearly upon us, can I please take this opportunity to remind all families that we discourage the sharing of Easter Eggs and food between children. Please encourage your children to celebrate this celebration with non-food products. Homemade cards are a thoughtful and suitable alternative.

Living with Diabetes

There are no limits for children with Diabetes and Cleo Zuvela (6 Gold) kindly shares her health journey. We are so proud of Cleo and she is a wonderful ambassador for others living with Diabetes.

Sports News

Congratulations to all our Inter-School swimmers last week on their fantastic results. We competed against Newman, All Saints College and Loreto. In the 42 individual races, JTC won of these events and received 13 second place finishes. In the relays, JTC won 4 of the 6 events. Whilst we had many outstanding swimmers on the night, a special mention to Charles Hodge (Year 6) who won all 4 of his “A” Division. individual races and to Bianca Petsos (Year 4) who won 2 of her ‘A” Division. races including setting a record for the Year 4 50m Backstroke. Overall, it has been a very successful swimming season and all students should be proud of their efforts. A special thank you to parent helpers including Amy Buck, Jo Barbour, Lucy Hodge and Primary staff.
