Library News

Hi everyone and welcome back to the McCarthy Library for Term Two.

It is useful and comforting to know that no matter what time it is or where you are studying or reading, the online McCarthy Library is open.  To access our library go to the McCarthy Learning page, enter through the student dropdown menu and then by clicking on McCarthy Library (Oliver) to launch our Library site.

What is on offer?  Visit the Library site for research assignments or reading for pleasure.  You can conduct online research, create your bibliography and borrow e-books.

How to search:

  • Typing your keyword search into the search window will give you access to carefully selected curriculum aligned websites, e-novels and e-factbooks.
  • Also, from the Library homepage you can connect to World Book Online, ClickView, the Sora e-reader and the State Library that has great resources to support learning from home.

When it is time to take a break

We love reading and researching in the library and we know everyone is back and working hard.  Here are four great ideas for taking short breaks from studies

1.     Puzzle: complete the Southern Cassowary puzzle in under 10 seconds

2.     Googling on the right side of your brain in less than 20 seconds https://quickdraw.withgoogle.com

3.     Wall ball catch in 30 seconds

How many times can you bounce a ball against a wall in 30 seconds throwing with one hand and catching in the other hand?  Can you do 10 to 30 within 30 seconds?

4.     Home Cafe in 30 minutes
