NAS (Northern Associated School) Nominations Term 2 – Winter Sport

This week our NAS sports students competed against Servite College. A reminder that the schedule for NAS is as follows; Year 7 students play on Monday, Year 8 and 9 students on Tuesdays and Years 10 – 12 students on Wednesday. A copy of the fixtures, venues and information regarding NAS Sport is available on the College website. A reminder that students need to inform the teacher in charge of their sport well in advance if they are unavailable to fulfil their commitment.

SSWA and ACC Cross Country - Year 7 – 12

Good luck to our interschool cross-country runners who will be competing at the SSWA on Friday 18 May. From the results of the SSWA cross country and our house carnival, the ACC team will be selected to compete on Thursday 31 May at Alderbury reserve. Students selected will be informed via email and in homeroom. We look forward to seeing how our runners perform.

Hockey Development Sessions

Hockey Development Sessions will begin on Wednesday 16 May (Week 3) on the College Ovals.

Training is available to any interested students in Years 7-10 and will continue each Wednesday and Friday morning until the end of Term. Each session will run from 7.00-8.00 am.

 

These skill acquisition sessions that will be run by Kate Starre OAM and Claire Richichi with all levels of hockey development covered, allowing students to build knowledge of hockey while having fun.

 

Kate Starre has won gold medals at both Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000) Olympic Games and also played in the 1992 Olympic Games. To add to her Olympic success, she won a Commonwealth Games gold medal and gold medals for two world cups and four Championship Trophy events. More recently she has coached at the top level in English hockey and in men's hockey in Perth. She holds a Masters of Strength and Conditioning.

 

Claire Richichi is an experienced exercise physiologist, for many years she has been an exercise physiologist in the Hockeyroos programme. Holding a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and Honours in Sports Physiology, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement. Claire has been a high-profile coach in several disciplines including water polo. She was key staff support at the 2016 Rio Olympics for the hockey programme.
