REMOTE LEARNING

As we begin the transition back to face-to-face learning, it is a great opportunity to reflect on the new and effective practices used during the remote learning of English. Many staff have utilised new platforms such as Loom and Kaizena as a means for providing students feedback, which allows students to hear recorded verbal and visual notes on their work. Remote learning has also forced a change in the way students deliver oral presentations, with students at all year levels utilising various platforms to record and demonstrate their skills analysing texts and language. The results have been very impressive.

All students are to be congratulated on the positive and resilient approach they have taken to remote learning. Along with their teachers, we have maintained the focus on academic rigour and excellence in everything we do.

Given the circumstances, staff, students and their supporting families should be very proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to two McKinnon students who represented the school at the VCAA Plain English Speaking Awards. Manasi Deshpande (Year 11) and Skyla Ruthven (Year 10) participated in the fiercely fought competition, each delivering a prepared speech and responding to an impromptu topic.

Both girls represented themselves and school exceptionally with Skyla finishing second in the heat. She will now move on to the state semi-final in June.
