WELCOME BACK VCE/VCAL STUDENTS

This week we welcomed back our VCE/VCAL students and how wonderful it has been to see them!

The soul of the school has once again started to beat. Laughter and joy has returned. Social distancing continues in classrooms and both students and staff are taking all the necessary steps to keep themselves and others safe. Good hygiene practices are so crucial and we have hand sanitizer everywhere. Washing hands and making sure people practice coughing etiquette ensures we will all remain safe.

Again I emphasise that no one who is unwell should be at school.

Please make sure you keep Courtney, our Attendance Officer, informed.

VCE EXAM SCHEDULE

Last week the Minister of Education made an announcement about the VCAA end of year exam period. This will begin on Monday 9 November until Wednesday 2 December.

Certainly gives peace of mind for us all. This also means the ATAR results will be calculated just before the year ends.

Again I recognize the impact this health crisis has had on our Year 12 students but I am very confident that they have been very supported to achieve their very best.

Teachers will continue to work hard to ensure best learning outcomes are achieved.

EAST VILLAGE CAMPUS

The project of the development of our second campus is well and truly on the way.

Below are some initial photos sent to us of the demolition and site clearing stage beginning.

A most exciting project.

CONGRATULATIONS - DUKE OF ED

I received an email from the staff at McKinnon Kindergarten as set out below:

“I am the Teacher of the Koala class at McKinnon kindergarten. We have had your students Max, Bali, Stefi, Ella and Sienna in our room on Tuesdays and Thursdays in term 1.

I just wanted to let you know that the children have asked about “the teenagers” many times since they have returned to Kindergarten this term, I thought you might wish to pass this on to the students who clearly have made a big impact on our children.

We hope you are all safe and well and we look forward to your students returning when restrictions lift”.

I would like to acknowledge Mr King for organizing students to attend McKinnon Kindergarten as part of the Duke of Edinburgh program. I would also like to thank the following Year 9 students who volunteer at the kindergarten to complete their service hours - Max Wiseman, Bali Curtain, Stefanie Panagiotopoulos, Ella Syphers and Sienna Rose-OpasinisYou are doing a marvellous job!

VIRTUAL CROSS COUNTRY

McKinnon's first ever Virtual Cross Country was a great success, with over 450 entrants over the five days. The winner this year, in a very close contest, was Gilmore! I would like to acknowledge Liam Adlington for organizing this event.

Congratulations to all competitors on such a fun and successful event. The rest of the results you will find later in the newsletter.
