First Week of Remote Learning

The College enacted our Remote Learning Plan on Tuesday, 31 March (Week 1.8) with the commencement of online lessons, class tasks and assessments using both SEQTA and Microsoft Teams as our teaching and learning platforms. Even after only four days of following the plan, we have already commenced a review process taking into account feedback we have received from teachers, students and parents. While much of this feedback has been largely positive, we are keen to adapt and evolve our Remote Learning Plan to better suit the changing needs of our College community.

It would be an understatement to say that the education sector is currently travelling in ‘unchartered waters’ with the health crisis causing a fundamental shift in the way we educate and engage our students. Our teachers have been able to, in a very short space of time, adapt their teaching to sit comfortably within the online space that is currently required. We have also, however, been blessed with both supportive parents and eager students whose can-do attitude has further inspired their teachers to provide the best lessons they can.

We don’t know what the future holds in terms of schooling, assessment and even final exams. What we can say, however, is that the College is committed to support our students and our wider community in the months to come and to do what we can to ensure that this disruption to learning has a minimal impact.

Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews

Interviews that were initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 5 May have now been cancelled as a result of the current health guidelines. St Norbert College understands that parent engagement is critical to student success and so supports ongoing communication between parents and teachers. If you wish to discuss your child’s progress with a teacher, we ask that you contact the teacher directly through either email or SEQTA Direqt Message during the first two weeks of Term 2.

Interim Reports

Student Interim Reports for Years 7-12 will be released through SEQTA Engage today (Thursday, 9 April). The report provides students and parents with an opportunity to reflect upon student progress throughout Term 1 and to consider what adjustments can be made to improve performance into the future. The Interim Reports are used to indicate student progress and so do not include any marks or grades. We are hoping to be in a position to provide a more detailed report at the end of Semester One. For Year 7 students and parents, the rotational elective program does not appear on the Interim Report but will instead appear on planned the Semester One Report. If an interview has been requested, please contact the relevant teachers via emails or SEQTA Direqt Message or from the commencement of Term 2.
