Climate Canons

Recycling drive

The last community event the College held this term was an e-waste drop-off and collection drive in partnership with the City of Canning and Total Green Waste.

Families brought in old laptops and televisions, clunky cables and outdated mobiles which were transported on roller cages to the trade centre, thanks to the Climate Canons and Mr Openshaw.

Donations were then sorted on to stackable warehouse cages for processing.

The following items were sent off for recycling:

  • 11 printers
  • 1 desktop
  • 9 Laptops
  • 4 flat screens TVs
  • 1 LCD monitors
  • About 50 computer peripherals, such as cables and plugs.

The excercise followed a visit to SNC by Shelley Foster, a sustainability educator, to discover the impact of e-waste making its way into our landfills and what we can do to help reduce this issue.
