Community Spotlight: Year 1/2

Focus: Returning to School

In the Year 1/2 Community, we have been talking about our upcoming return to school!

Although some of us are excited to return to school on Thursday, it is important to identify that some of us are feeling a little nervous. After being at home for so long it is hard to remember what life at school was like! Although we are very excited to play with our friends and work together in the classroom, we know that it might also be a bit overwhelming. As we get closer, we will continue to prepare ourselves for Thursday morning by discussing things like the school rules and routines both with our  classroom teachers, and with your families. We will keep having our wellbeing sessions when we get back to school, and do activities such as class dances, sharing time, talking about resilience and bouncing back. We teachers are very excited to get back into the classroom with you all, and can't wait to see you all IN PERSON!

From your anxiously excited teachers,

Miss Borg, Miss Marakis and Miss Reaney.

The Return To School!

Upon our return to school, things may look a little different for our young ones. It is always a great idea to prepare them as we all know children don't always like the unknown.

Social Stories are a great way to explain how unexpected things may look. You can read them with your child and have a meaningful discussion about the upcoming event.

Attached are the Back to School and Wearing a Mask to School Social Stories.

It is a great idea to read them the night before your child returns to school to prepare them after remote learning.

Take care  and stay safe,
