PE and Sport News
Hello families,
I hope you managed to find some time to get outside and grab a picnic with those that you have been longing to see during the break. It was so great to see the children last week and I look forward to continuing to see them online until we can come together and enjoy playing outside again together soon.
Run/Walk Around Australia
Just a quick note to let you know that we walked/ran 3570km which took us on our way to Darwin, somewhere nice and hot to finish! Well done to everyone that participated, you all did a great job.
National Nutrition Week (October 11 until October 17)
National Nutrition Week, an initiative run by Nutrition Australia, aims to focus our attention on the importance of eating well and how we can improve our diet on a daily basis. This year the focus is on the intake of vegetables. Approximately 7.5% of adults and even less children reach the recommended daily intake of vegetables which is quite extraordinary.
I encourage you to head to their website https://www.tryfor5.org.au/ and have a look at the great seminars they are running this week, recipes, no waste advice, kid friendly advice they are promoting throughout the week.
I also love this free ebook they are promoting (12 before 12) that is about the 12 essential cooking skills you need before turning 12, a fantastic initiative https://12before12.sanitarium.com.au/ . Well worth the download.
I encourage you to look at these resources with your children and perhaps have them cook a meal with you during the week to encourage the lifelong love of healthy eating.
As always, any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
