Sport Development Leader

As we draw the curtains closed on a mixed term of sport, it’s important to reflect on how lucky we are in Queensland. Through all the COVID-19 scares we only lost two weeks of sport and activities. 

We talk a lot about building resilience in our students; I think life in general has been throwing a lot of curve balls to our sportswomen in order to build this. To their credit the players have marched on towards the pinnacle of the term which was the CaSSSA Athletics Carnival. After losing this Carnival in 2020, schools were very persistent in making sure we would stage the event, this year.  

On Monday this week a team of nearly 90 athletes represented the College  at the Carnival. The 2021 format included 10 schools making this a busy day out. Some new events, and a hot day tested everyone out there, but we came out fighting and placed 5th in the overall standings as well as picking up a pennant in the 15 year age group.  Make sure to read the Athletics Captains' report for some further information on results.

Our Term 3 CaSSSA Sports also wrapped up last night with 6 teams making the podium and 4 premiership pennants earned. As always, the Term 4 sport model is fast moving, so it is important to check in and celebrate the success our teams are having in 2021. Well done to all players, coaches and managers on a great term.

Term 4 sporting teams have been selected and and competitions with commence Week 1 next term. With this term being a shorter one, we will see sport every week up to the final week of school. We are looking forward to seeing how we go and pray that we only see summer skies on Wednesdays. As the weather heats up we will see swimming return next term, as well as some trail running to hide from the sun.  Keep an eye on the program via School Notices for information on these.
