Senior School

From the Head of Senior School

On Wednesday we had our last Senior School assembly with the Year Twelve students. It brought to an end this incarnation of the Senior School. Every year has its own tone and 'feel'; the dominant values which prevail amongst the students set that tone. Each year is distinct, with a unique character. Each year adds a layer to the history of this institution; each group of Year Twelve students leaves a legacy.

I have been reflecting on the legacy left by the 2021 cohort. They have been characterised by hard work and commitment to achieving their best. While this is most obvious through the excellent final results they have achieved, it has been equally obvious in their sense of cooperation and willingness to work with the School. I need add nothing more than to say that for the first time ever, in 2021 we did not need to close down the Pratten Centre kitchenette!

This group of Year Twelve students has also been characterised by the substantial relationships they have built and maintained with the staff and their peers. We are very grateful to them and proud of them.

On behalf of the entire school community I wish our departing Year Twelve students every happiness and fulfilment in the years ahead.

From the Communications Captain

We Year Twelves are coming up to our last two days of school (which is crazy!) and I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on my eleven years at Grammar. Over the last week all of us have been feeling very nostalgic and I think I can speak for all Year Twelve students when I say that we are so grateful for everything that this school has given us. On a personal level, I came to GSG at the beginning of Year Two, so I have really grown up with many people in my year group. The friendships I have made are ones that I will cherish long after I have left Grammar. Throughout Junior, Middle and Senior School our year group has gone through many changes, but I think our respect for one another highlights the great culture we have here. I will miss the sense of comradery that has been especially prevalent this year. I’d like to say thank you to all the teachers who have worked really hard to help us all succeed but also let us have a bit of fun during class. I have had the happiest school experience at Grammar and although I feel I am ready to leave, I’ll always look back on my time here with fond memories.
