Celebrating 12 Months Growth in 12 Months!
Dear Families,
A great deal of reporting in the media has centered on Distance Learning and the potential long-term educational impacts for our students. It was a pleasure to meet with teachers this week to discuss student progress and the preliminary results from our student data.
What was overwhelmingly evident from these conversations was the growth that students have made across the core curriculum areas of English and Mathematics. At minimum, each school setting aims for students to achieve 12 months growth in 12 months. It must be noted that there is often variation in data due to individual differences and other factors. Our data indicates that the majority of our students have continued to learn and grow in the last year, achieving the minimum growth expectations of 12 months in 12 months.
A preliminary summary of the data is provided in the table below, presented as the percentage of students achieving the expected level for their year level this semester.
Preliminary Year 3/4 Data | ||
---|---|---|
Reading | Writing | Mathematics Number & Algebra |
78% | 78% | 77% |
Preliminary Year 5/6 Data | ||
Reading | Writing | Mathematics Number & Algebra |
80% | 80% | 75% |
% of students at the expected level of the curriculum for their year level |
This data belongs to the students, their parents and to our expert educators. Together we have weathered lock down and the challenges of Distance Learning and our children have achieved great results.
Rest assured, the learning continues at St Anthony's until the final week of term and our teachers continue to work together to maximise growth for all students. We will continue to assess, teach and monitor each student in the coming weeks before finalising student reports late in Week 9 of the term.
I would like to take this opportunity to commend our staff for their unwavering pursuit of excellence for every student in our care.
with best wishes,
