Dear Sacred Heart Community

New COVID 19 Protocols

As metropolitan Melbourne enters the ‘Last Step’ of the Victorian roadmap for reopening, and life in the general community takes on a degree of normality with the easing of restrictions, so does the life of our school begin to take on some of the practices that have been restricted for the majority of the year. Next Monday I will provide details of any new arrangements that will affect families such as the discontinuation of our staggered dismissal, parents entering our school grounds, the use of face masks by parents in the school building, etc.

With the easing of some of our restrictions, can I assure you that the health and wellbeing of our students is paramount, and the hygiene practices introduced in the classrooms this year will continue until further notice.

Year Three, First Reconciliation

Last night I had the privilege of attending the First Reconciliationceremony for our Year Three students. It was a beautiful celebration thanks to our students who were so respectful of the occasion. Congratulations to our students, their wonderful families, Denise, Marie and Jenny and of course Father Jan. It was great to see part of our school community coming together for the first time since term one, to celebrate one of the sacraments.

End of Year Reports

Our teachers are finalising their student's reports and they will be forwarded to me later next week for final checking. All parents will have their child's report emailed on Wednesday 16th December (ie the last day of school for our students), unless you requested a hard copy in semester one. If you have requested a hard copy this will be sent home with your child also on the 16th December.

On the last day of school all students will bring home a copy of their self assessment and letter detailing their class and teacher/s for 2021.

Welcome

Georgia has the honor of being our first 2021 Year Prep student to purchase her brand new school uniform which she did this morning. It was a big morning for Georgia's family because Georgia's big sister Yianna, is also joining our school next year, and as you can see from the photos below, both Georgia and Yianna are really happy with their new uniforms. A big Sacred Heart welcome to Georgia and Yianna and their beautiful family.

Year Prep Special Visitor

During their Italian class on Wednesday, our Year Preps had a special visitor. Claudia organisedfor Pinocchio to make a special visit. Considering he just celebrated his 130th birthday he looked incredibly youthful. During my visit to the class, the Year Preps told me that Pinocchio had a "naso lungo".

Happy Birthday

Everyone's birthday is always very special, but when you share your birthday with your brother that is an even busier family event. Happy birthday to out two relatively new students, brothers Carlos in Year Five and Tristian in Year Prep. We hope Wednesday was a great day for you both.

School Donation

Each year Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, the employer of parent Lip Tong (father of Julie and Sean) makes a very generous donation to our school. The money again this year will go towards purchasing mathematics and science resources. On behalf of our school community I would like to say thank you to Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories for this king gesture.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is pleased to provide a donation to your school on behalf of the employee(s) shown below.  Each employee could direct $100.00 approximately each to the school of his/her choice.

We enjoy sharing our passion for mathematics and science with the purpose of inspiring young minds and opening their eyes to the value, importance, and excitement of science and mathematics.  We hope you will use the funds this way, and would love to hear how you spent the donation.

Sharing our success with our communities is a commitment from our values – and a delightful commitment to fulfil!

Yours sincerely

Enrolments

We have a couple of positions available for Year Prep in 2021 as a result of two enrolled students having another year at kindergarten and another family of an enrolled student doing a tree change due to COVID 19. If you have any friends, relatives or neighbours who live in the area who are still seeking a placement for their child next year in Year Prep, please do not hesitate to recommend Sacred Heart. We also have some limited places in other year levels.

Please take care

Yours Sincerely
