Climate Canons

Climate Canons

The week of the 9th–13th November was a big week for the Climate Canons to say the least! The Climate Canons supported National Pollinator Week, National Recycling Week, NAIDOC Week, ran a raffle to win a family pass to Perth Zoo and hosted an art competition called Trash to Treasure, Bin to Beauty Art Competition. We had students running an information stall Tuesday to Friday providing students with facts about recycling, bees and Indigenous sustainability. Our awesome members dressed as bees and provided information to their peers about the importance of pollinator species. It was an informative and fun week had by all.

Our art competition produced some spectacular pieces. Coming in at first place was Katriel Rivadenera with her amazing octopus. A close second and third place went to Franchesca Varilla for her creative bee and Sophie Eaton for her beautiful sunflower. An honourable mention went to Ms Rainford for her innovative Christmas tree. Thank you to all those who were involved. Prizes will be awarded at our final College assembly.

The Climate Canons have partnered again with the City of Canning and Total Green Recycling to collect and recycle E-waste from the community. St Norbert College families are encouraged to bring in items during Week 8 and there will be a drop off day for City of Canning residents on Saturday 5 December. The Climate Canons E-waste collection point will be located in the Xanten Performing Arts carpark – entrance via Centre Street and gates will open from 9am until 1pm.
