COIN TRAIL FUNDRAISER & FETE SILENT AUCTION

COIN TRAIL FUNDRAISER #KINDSCHOOLS

There was much excitement leading up to the Youth Off The Streets Kind Schools coin trail challenge yesterday to see who had the longest trail.  We are waiting for final figures for which class raised the most money and which class had the longest line.     Thank you to everyone who contributed to the senior #kindschools Youth Off The Streets coin trail fundraiser for this wonderful Charity.

Why were we raising money for Youth Off The Streets?  As part of the religion program in 5/6 we have been looking at those less fortunate than ourselves and searching for a practical way in which we can contribute to better opportunities for those less fortunate than us. The 5/6 students identified the homeless of our community, especially the youth. Youth Off The Streets is a non-denominational community organisation working for disadvantaged young people who may be homeless, drug dependent and/or recovering from abuse.

Youth Off The Streets supports these young people as they work to turn their lives around and overcome immense personal trauma such as neglect, physical, psychological and/or emotional abuse.  It is their goal that these young people will leave our care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a full-time or part time job in hand.

Since opening in 1991, Youth Off The Streets has grown from a single food van delivering meals to young homeless people on the streets of Kings Cross to a major youth specific agency offering a full continuum of care through delivery of a wide range of services.

Their 35 services include aboriginal programs, crisis accommodation, alcohol and other drug services, counselling, accredited high schools, outreach and residential programs. Volunteers support us every step of the way.

Father Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets, together with the money raised from our schools coin challenge, hope to change the lives of 47,000 homeless young people in Australia who experience neglect, abuse or sleep rough outdoors. Every young person deserves to feel safe and supported and that's why we're reaching out to you for help.

PARISH/SCHOOL FETE SILENT AUCTION

Thank you to everyone who got behind our recent Fete silent auction. All prizes had a bid raising a total of $1113.  An amazing effort! With this total it brings the total of funds raised for our 2020 Fete to $20,367, best result ever!

The discussion will now start on how best to spend these funds across our school and parish.  We will keep everyone updated.

Thank you to all the businesses that supported our fete this year, without your continued support our fete would not have been as successful.

A huge thank you to all our families, students, teachers, administration, parishioners and those on the fete committee. Without everyone's support, the fete wouldn't be the wonderful event we know and love.

There will be no fete in 2021.  Fingers crossed in 2022 we will be able to run this wonderful school and parish community event again.

Again, thank you to everyone for their support this year.

Take care, Fete Committee 2020
