SSV Eureka Intermediate Volleyball (Boys – Winners, Girls – Runner Up)

On Monday 27th March both the BHS Intermediate Boys and Girls Volleyball teams headed up the road to Daylesford Secondary College to compete in the SSV Eureka Intermediate Volleyball competition. The student skill depth was evident with both divisions producing some quality matches. The Boys team managed to make it all the way to the finals and went on to beat Mount Clear College to be declared the winners. The Girls team unfortunately took an early loss to Daylesford Secondary College which put them on the back foot early. A string of wins after this meant they ended the day in 2nd place.

The Boys team will progress to the SSV Greater Western Region Intermediate Volleyball competition in Horsham on Wednesday 3rd May.

Students involved:

Boys – Jesse Baker, Billy Catherall, Noah Cummins, Matthew Hardiman, Jacob Hutchinson, Jaspar Lee, Hamish Marshall, Hamish Mathison, Felix Murray, Jett Roberts

BAS Tennis Single Championships

On Monday 27th February BHS sent 4 students to the annual BAS Tennis Singles Championships at the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre. This event brings Ballarat’s best young tennis players together for an extremely strong skilled competition. All of our students battled away respectably throughout the day with the 3 boys missing out on a position in the finals. Milla Fraser however managed to secure a spot in the finals on Thursday 2nd March. Milla went on to win the entire event and successfully defended her title in the Henderson Shield. Milla has won this event for the 3rd successive time and continues a run of 10 years in a row of BHS winning the shield

Congratulations Milla!

BAS Golf Championships

On Tuesday 21st March BHS sent 7 students to the annual BAS Golf Championships at the Midlands Golf Club. Students have a choice of entering either the 9 hole or 18 hole competition around the wonderful Midlands course. The misty weather certainly created an extra level of difficulty for all those competing, resulting in higher scores that usual. This didn’t stop several BHS students showing their golf prowess with wins and runner up positions achieved.

Congratulations to Mo Haintz who won the 18 hole senior boys section with a score of +3, 2 strokes ahead of second place. Aaliya Puvanendran (+25) & Isabelle Strawthorn (+9) both came runners up in the junior girls 18 hole and 9 hole competitions respectively.

Students involved:

  • Mo Haintz (18 hole. +3, 1st place)
  • Aaliya Puvanedran (18 hole. +25, 2nd place)
  • Isabelle Strawthorn (9 hole. +9, 2nd place)
  • Dante Finnigan (9 hole. +12, 18th place)
  • Seth Finnigan (9 hole. +10, 12th place)
  • Millar Ferguson (9 hole. +23, 32nd place)
