Ms Christine Larsen - Curriculum Leader The Arts

From the Visual Art Department

In a recent excursion for year 11 and 12 Visual Arts in Practice class, the students visited Bracken Ridge Skate Park, Newstead, The Print Bar, and Frew Park to explore the designs and uses of recreation spaces through real-world experiences. The Year 12 boys captured the essence of these spaces by taking photos while exploring the facilities. The information gathered during the excursion will inform their upcoming project of designing and creating a recreation space of their own through 3D modelling.

During the students visit to The Print Bar, they witnessed commercial screen printing, which will inform a vital component of their unit, "Identify Yourself." This visit helped the students to gain an understanding of how the screen-printing process works and provided them with insights into designing and realizing their very own t-shirt designs. Despite the sweltering heat and long walks, the students had a fantastic time exploring, photographing, and sketching the various facilities.

The excursion offered a unique opportunity for the students to learn beyond the classroom and experience the practical aspects of the subject. It gave the students a real-world perspective on their work, and they left with newfound inspiration and knowledge.
