Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Prep

This term our focus has been on the captivating world of weather and seasons. Our young learners have embraced this theme with enthusiasm, immersing themselves in activities that have brought meteorology to life. A particularly memorable moment was our exploration of wind, an invisible force that we can feel but not see. To help to bring this learning to life, our students began crafting paper airplanes. The classroom was filled with joyous laughter and infectious smiles as we not only assembled them but also ventured outside to test their flight in the wind. Our Preps have truly outdone themselves this term. Their "can do" attitude shines brightly, reflecting their spirit of resilience and determination. Keep up the great learning Preps!

Year 1

In our English unit, we've been delving into the captivating world of Mesopotamia! Our students have been fully immersed in this historical journey through engaging hands-on activities. They've had the chance to create canals and master the art of writing their names in cuneiform, which has truly brought the fascinating history to life.

Year 2

Our Year 2 students made their way to ancient Greece, as they started their new topic in Greek Myths. They are learning about the twelve Greek Gods and Goddesses and their roles in the Ancient Greek society. This week, they tried their best to write the facts they learnt about Zeus in their journal writing. We are very excited to see what new information they will learn on their continued journey to ancient Greece over the next few weeks.

Year 3

This week in Year 3, we finished our English unit on 'Our Solar System and Beyond'. Students are over the moon with their newfound knowledge of space! We compared the inner and outer planets, learned about galaxies and explored events in the history of space exploration. With pencils as mighty as rocket boosters, they wrote an information text all about the life of an astronaut in space. It has been amazing to see just how much they have learned and how creative they can be. Have a look at some of their writing below and be sure to look for it on the classroom walls during the next Family Friday!

Year 4

This week we went on our Year 4 excursion to the Sealife Aquarium! The Year 4's had a whale of a time exploring the underwater world and getting to know the many different types of sea creatures. The jellyfish were a highlight with their graceful movements and mesmerizing colours. We also met a giant crocodile that was over 3 metres long! But the biggest hit was the enormous saltwater tank, a bustling neighbourhood of fish and rays that left us in awe.

This adventure didn't just teach us about marine life; it showed us the wonders of our planet's oceans. The Year 4 students and teachers left the aquarium with many wonderful memories.

Year 5

In Year 5, the students have been learning to identify the qualities of a good friend and the aspects to what makes a great friendship. The students were placed into groups to work on an acrostic poem using a friendship quality. It was great to see them interact and work together as a team to ensure their poem showed the ingredients to positive and strong friendships. The Year 5 teachers were really proud of them presenting their poems to their class.

Year 6

It’s been an enlightening fortnight in Year 6. In Science, we continued to deepen our knowledge of light through experiments. Last week, we investigated the concept of refraction through a range of activities. In one activity, students drew an arrow on a piece of paper and placed it parallel to a glass filled with water. We discovered that the arrow ‘magically’ changes direction because of refraction. This is an experiment that can easily be recreated at home! This week, we explored the colour spectrum by creating ‘Newton’s Colour Wheel’ which really got our heads ‘spinning’. Check out the photos!
