YOUNG VINNIES: COOKING FOR THE HOMELESS

Last Thursday, thirteen students from Young Vinnies met in the Food rooms after school to cook for the homeless. We made butter chicken curry and chilli con carne. What a fun experience we had and the joy we felt cooking for people in need!

We made around 80 containers of food for the homeless, which were collected on Friday by volunteers from Grace Café Drop-in Centre in Joondalup and Passages Youth Engagement Hub for teenagers in Perth. We make the homeless smile when they read the label on the food containers: “cooked with love by the students at Sacred Heart College”.

It was worth cooking for the homeless because it’s going to make homeless people feel special, and the food is super delicious, so it’s nice to know that those in need are being fed and not left starving.

Thank you to Mrs Hywood, all the other staff who helped and to all the students who volunteered their time for this worthy cause. Thank you also to McLoughlin Butchers in Malaga who donated the meat.
