Curriculum Days and Whole School Professional Practice Day for 2023 - Student Free Days

Please see the dates below for the three remaining Curriculum Days and the whole school Professional Practice Day for 2023:

  • Monday 1 May (Week 2 Term 2) - Curriculum Day
  • Monday 10 July (1st day of Term 3) - Curriculum Day
  • Monday 2 October (1st day of Term 4) - Whole School Professional Practice Day
  • Monday 6 November (Day before Melbourne Cup Day) - Curriculum Day – Report Writing and Assessment

We hope that publishing these dates early will provide families with ample time to access care for their children.

Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) - Expression of Interest Tender Process

The licence agreement between CNPS School Council and Big Childcare has expired. School Council is currently conducting an expression of interest process (EOI) and has been in communication with a large number of OSHC providers. Big Childcare has communicated to School Council that they will not submit an EOI.

The timeline for the EOI Tender Process is to hopefully have determined and engaged a new OSHC provider by Week 2 of Term 2.

As parents and carers may be aware, the communication process with Big Childcare has broken down. We have been unable to get a response as to whether they will be conducting a program for next Tuesday 21 March or a holiday program for the upcoming Easter holidays. We recommend that families seek alternative care for their children for this period. We understand that Big Childcare will continue the Before and After School Care program into Term 2; however, we will continue communicating with parents on this matter.

3-Way Conferences- Students, Parents/Carers and Teachers Tuesday 21 March – Booking Process Live on Compass

During the 3-Way Conferences next Tuesday, your child will share their Learning Goals, including the strategies they will use to achieve them. Within the 15-minute conference, you and your child may also wish to discuss your child’s academic, social or emotional wellbeing with their teacher. Alternatively, if there is something that you wish to discuss with your child’s teacher without your child being present, we can arrange an alternate meeting at another date and time, or your child could step out of the meeting and engage in a supervised activity in the hallway.

All families can book conference times with their child’s teachers on Compass

If you have any issues booking, please contact the office for assistance.

The conference time is limited to 15 minutes only. Please remember that you can always book another meeting with your child’s teacher on another day if you require additional time.

Please Note: Students will not attend classes/school on this day. However, we request all students attend the 3-Way Conference with their parents/carers.

We have requested that Big Childcare provide care for families on this day. The school is waiting for further confirmation.

Teaching Teams have sent out an outline of Expectations and Protocols for these conferences on Compass.

NAPLAN Window Commenced Yesterday, 15 March

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students participated in their first NAPLAN Assessment yesterday. NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students can undertake. As students progress through their school years, it’s important to check how well they learn the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.

Our Year 3 and Year 5 Students will be participating in the NAPLAN assessments on the following days:
