Todd Woodbridge Cup

Last Wednesday 9 children travelled to Tamworth to play tennis and compete in the Regional Finals of the Todd Woodbridge Cup. The team had competed in the zone competition in Gunnedah earlier in the year, and after winning all their matches we qualified to go to Tamworth. The  team consisted of 4 boys, 4 girls and one reserve.

There were 12 teams competing in Tamworth and they were from all different towns around the region. The teams were split into two different pools and St Xavier's played 5 rounds in their pool. Each round involved everyone in the team playing a match of doubles and then a match of mixed doubles.  St Xavier's had lots of wins during the day and at the end of the pool matches it was announced that they had won their pool and had qualified for the semi final.

In the semi final they played against Tamworth Public School - and managed to win. They had to play against Gunnedah South School in the Grand Final, and after some very tight matches and a nail biting finish St Xavier's came out on top and won the Grand Final. They have now qualified for State which will be held in Sydney next term.  In Sydney, they will be one of the top 20 teams from around NSW who will participate in the day.

Woolworths Cricket Blast

Yesterday Year 3 and 5 participated in the Woolworths Cricket Blast at Donnelly Fields. What started out as a fantastic day, soon turned into a blustery, dusty and very cold day. Unfortunately, it had to be called off early, but the students still got a great taste of cricket in a fun, supportive environment.
